High quality data throughout the data value
chain is the keystone to an effective
ERP, CRM or Digital Transformation endeavour
Onpro Consulting turns our clients’ data into valuable building blocks for their ERP, CRM or Digital Transformation projects
An important reason ERP, CRM and Digital Transformation projects fail to deliver value is the lack of high-quality data
The best decisions, whether automated or human, are based on relevant data that is free of errors, not duplicated, fit for purpose and formatted for maximum utility. Yet, many project owners and managers fail to give the data value chain a high enough priority during project planning, preparation and execution. This is often due to a lack of manpower and expertise, or the value and importance of good quality data is wholly underestimated. Data science, machine learning and indeed everything in the new Fourth Industrial Revolution requires a much more granular view of data, compared to traditional ERP and CRM projects of old.
The sheer granularity of the digital world means that any errors in data are amplified exponentially and they lead to vast deviations from the truth.
Think of the effect of a two-degree error in direction if you are travelling 100 metres vs. 10 kilometres vs. 10,000 kilometres vs. 10 million kilometres.
At Onpro Consulting we acknowledge that smart algorithms, high-tech AI and world-class data science are just the tip of the iceberg. Beneath the surface, everything is data, and it needs to be refined before it can propel your business towards the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).
Our Data Quality Service
There’s always a significant gap between the quality of the data you have and the quality you need for your Digital Transformation project to succeed. Offered as a service, Onpro Consulting’s experience and expertise in all things data, means any organisation can rapidly close that gap. You step confidently into the Fourth Industrial Revolution with the knowledge that your data is an investment grade asset.
Services
Onpro Consulting’s Data Quality Service provides a powerful set of functions that shape your data around your organisation’s total data value chain and your complete information needs. These include:
Strategy
Optimal data utility comes from a clearly defined strategy. Our deep research and interactive workshops establish who your stakeholders are and their precise requirements. We not only study your data uses but also your organisation’s decision-making processes. We determine why the data is needed, where it will come from and if you have enough of it, if it should be enriched from external sources, and what the most informative format for its presentation would be. From insights like these, we map out the path from what you have to where you want to go and how to get there.
Planning
During planning, we determine how best to extract the data from the relevant sources, an appropriate format for its storage, and how to cleanse it and transform it to its optimal structure. We work with stakeholders to identify approaches that support their efforts, for example, what training and test data they require for a machine learning project. We also set standards for how it will be validated to ensure it is fit for purpose, and testing procedures to confirm its accuracy during development.
Enrichment
Often, better results are achieved by augmenting your organisation’s data with external sources, like social media, email text, mapping data, images or other information from secondary repositories or the Internet. An example is to take weather pattern data and match it to attendance at open air music festivals. Public transport interruptions can also play a role in attendance figures. Another example is the analysis of vehicle engine overheating. If the vehicle is driving down a decline, is not loaded and the ambient temperature is low, then a higher than normal engine temperature is an anomaly. If the same vehicle is driving up an incline, is fully loaded and ambient temperature is high, then a higher than normal engine temperature is not anomalous. In this instance, the engine temperature is the core data set, the geo location, load weight, direction of travel and weather data act as enrichment to provide more accurate and compelling insights.
Execution
Once we’ve set up how your data will be prepared, we begin executing the plan. We will extract the data from the identified sources, and transforming and storing it in the optimal format. This includes testing the process and validating the data to ensure it retains its accuracy and continues to run without fault when the project goes live. Data will be de-duplicated, outliers will be removed, and irrelevant or corrupt records will be purged as information is copied to its new home.
Application
During the data planning and preparation project, we’ll help you gain even more from your data. We can show you what decisions are already being made and how well these align with your corporate strategy. We’ll provide insights into other applications of your newly cleansed data, such a moving from email marketing to digital marketing, implementing an automated reporting process, or setting more meaningful business rules. We’ll help you understand how your data flows through your value chain and how to leverage key points of interest to make even better decisions.
Auditing
You can engage us to perform regular audits that ensure your complete body of data continues to align with your organisation’s decision-making requirements.
Review
Your business will evolve over time. So will your information needs. We’ll help you identify new gaps between your data and your strategic concerns, and close them efficiently to preserve your initial investment.
